Oklahoma’s unemployment rate dropped again in September the Oklahoma Employment Securities Commission reported Tuesday, October 21st.
The nonseasonally adjusted unemployment rate dipped to 3.5 percent – down from 3.8 percent in August and a noticeable change from last September’s rate of 4.1 percent.
The Oklahoma City metro area added 7,000 jobs during the month, while the Tulsa metro area lost 400 jobs, the report said. Year over year, the state’s nonfarm employment grew by 11,000 jobs.
Year over year growth in the OESC’s establishment survey that looks at jobs saw an employment increase of 0.7 percent. Per OESC economist, Lynn Gray, “that puts us as the tenth fastest growing state in the country.”
